God is saying to you tonight!

God is saying to you tonight, Give me all your worries and I will give you rest.

Do we realize what happens when the busyness of life gets out of control? We’re all familiar with those times. They are periods when we’re working extra hours on the job, we’re committed to a child’s event at school, we’re taking an evening class on finances and we’re worried about our aging parents of sick children.

It’s in those times that our stress, anxieties, and worries go through the roof!

It is also in those times that we sometimes forget to give these things to the Lord.

David wrote a psalm of comfort that we should consider. Psalm 138:7 says, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.”

Our enemies are not the same as the ones he fought against, but ours are real as well. We fight against great weariness in the mind. The current situation with Covid-19 has magnified the stress around the world! Worries related to our jobs, our children’s schooling, our friends and family with compromised health issues, and more.

Above all of the things mentioned, there is one thing that makes it all the worse: forgetting to take these things to the Lord.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

A yoke is a wooden harness that holds two working animals together (such as oxen) so that they pull together for the work at hand. Jesus used terms that were familiar to the people He was talking to. He used this to demonstrate His desire to join with us when our burdens were heavy. His yoke would not add additional weight to the heavy load we carried on our own. He was there to help, and it is His desire to do the same today.

1 Peter 5:7 reminds us again: “Casting all your anxieties on him because he cares for you.”

Can we remember the last time we went to our place of prayer and poured our hearts out to the Lord? Where we shared our deepest concerns, fears, and frustrations? Can we remember the last time we asked the Lord to cover us with His peace?

Friends, the Savior we love and serve wants all of us. He wants our good days and our bad days to include Him. He knows we will face difficult times. He didn’t offer to send His Spirit (the Comforter) for us to brave each trial on our own.

How privileged we are to go to Him! Philippians 4:7 assures us that “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We must not forget to go to our Lord with our cares and heavy burdens.

The blessing of His strength is needed and offered to us! David spoke of clinging to the Lord in Psalm 63:8: “My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.”

Friends, we have an incredible Friend in Jesus. A Friend like no other. Let’s not forget to take our cares to Him and accept His peace and rest for our souls.
